Changes to the Privacy Act

On Thursday 22 February 2018, a data breach notification scheme will come into effect as a result of legislative changes to the Privacy Act 1998.
This will obligate agencies and certain businesses, including medical practitioners, to notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and individuals who are affected of data breaches that are ‘likely to result in serious harm.’
