At the Australasian College of Dermatologists we are committed to pursuing environmentally responsible business practices that contribute to sustainability, and to fostering such practices in our Fellows and trainees.
Our environmental sustainability commitments
We recognise our responsibility to transition to a low carbon future, a circular economy, responsible water use and to minimising our environmental footprint. As a member organisation, we recognise our role in supporting our members to do the same.
College’s Environmental Sustainability Group provides recommendations and advice on opportunities and practical strategies for meeting our environmental sustainability commitments.
What action are we taking?
We are pursuing a range of strategies to maximise our positive impact and minimise our negative impact on the environment. Here are just a few examples.

All staff are enabled to work remotely minimising travel
ESG considerations at the core of our investment fund decision-making

Supporting Fellows, trainees and patients in the use of telehealth and other digitally-enabled care
Our climate change and skin health summit
In May 2022, our Environmental Sustainability Group hosted a virtual summit on climate change and skin health. The summit brought together an expert panel of global and local academics to examine the evidence for how climate change is impacting skin health and the implications for dermatology training and practice.
For more about the Summit, view the program and read the article in the Winter 2022 edition of our Member magazine.
The Summit recordings are available as an education resource for ACD Fellows and trainees via our e-Learning portal.

In the Autumn 2021 edition of our Member magazine, Dr Fiona Bruce and Dr Belinda Welsh shared the steps they have taken in their own practices and workplaces to reduce their environmental footprint.
